House to Home - Halloween Decor

There are a few holidays I really enjoy decorating for and one of them is Halloween Starting over in a new place is fun.  I did clear out my Halloween tote prior to the move. I have had several Halloween sayings up on my letterboard.  Above is the one currently on my letterboard.

I did have my bat cut outs. This is a cheap decor decoration with lots of impact.

I also had the pottery barn knock off bats that my husband made. I think they look great in the window.

Sam's Club had these sugar skull planters and I think they look great on my table.

I have already shown off my Floral Gothic Coffee China Cabinet Decor.

Have you seen the sheet ghost trend. I convinced my oldest to let me put a sheet on his giant bear. Then I donned the floral sheet. Can't do the white sheet and I don't have one either.

Guess this is a viral Tik Tok trend. Cute Ghost here and controversy here

52 Ancestors - Organization

Well I have fallen off the write about 52 ancestor wagon. I have been participating in Amy Crow Johnson's 52 ancestors in 52 weeks.

I was realizing I hadn't had a good way to track what I had written about and the topics. This week's writing prompt was organization. I thought I would make this a catalog post to find all my 52 ancestor posts. Despite participating in multiple years, I don't even have 52 posts.

House to Home - Change of Address Cards

Well I sent out some change of address cards. I decided to use postcards specifically New Mexico postcards as this is our new state. They were inexpensively found at the local Walgreens. They were 10 cents apiece. I also got postcard stamps. I do not live in Roswell, but I thought the Alien Postcards were hilarious and certain percent of my friends would find them funny.

Did you know you can make postcards through Walgreens?

Etsy also had some nice selection for some Change of Address Postcards

Oh, I love a warty pumpkin or a peachy colored pumpkin

Inappropriate Thoughts

This is a "Well that escalated quickly."  I started my kitchen painting project.  (Details Here) The built-in china cabinet being the last thing I will be tackled. So, I taped it off to not get wall paint on the cabinet. Well, I pulled off the tape and it basically removed some of the paint.

It appears they didn't prime or sand before applying the paint.  It was like picking at a wound. I couldn't help myself.

Deep Thoughts

I am in a book club (SharonSaysSo) and we had an author talk by Bryan Stevenson, "Just Mercy".  Bryan is also the founder of the Equal Justice Initiative.  I have read Just Mercy twice now.  Bryan Stevenson is a lawyer who represents those who are wrongful accused and on death row. It was a great talk and Bryan is a moving speaker.

What I Read October

I am linking up with Modern Mrs Darcy's Quick Lit. Check out what everyone else is reading.

We are the Brennans by Tracey Lange

This is a family drama centered on a bar well actually a bar and about to open bar. There are secrets and lost love. Brennans are a complicated family. It was a decent read.

The Office BFFs by Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey

If you are an Office fan this book is a must read. I have to admit I have only watched a handful of the office shows and I have never listened to the Office Ladies Podcast. I am reading this for a book club however, I found their stories fascinating a peek behind the curtain into how a TV series is produced. I am admirer of their friendship. It reminds me a lot about my best friend, and it got me to thinking how a book or a podcast from us would look. These ladies are great story tellers.

Saturday Fun Day - Muddy Corn Maze

Well I can't believe it, but rain has arrived in New Mexico. The Maze was actually closed due to rainy conditions last Friday. There was a delay on Saturday, but we decided to give it a go. The Maze was incredible, and our shoes got really really muddy. Glad we brought shoes to change into.

This Corn Maze had an awesome set up. Lots of fun things like a giant jumping pillow for kids, zip line, duck races, pumpkin cannon, pumpkin field.

They also had a cotton field and sunflower field. It was just a beautifully done venue.

Weekly Roll

Well last week was the passing of Loretta Lynn, country star legend. My mind was blown that Crystal Gayle was Loretta Lynn's sister.  My parents are huge Crystal Gayle fans and that is part of the soundtrack of my childhood.

Inappropriate Thoughts also known as HOLD MY GLUE BOTTLE

This week was littered with rabbit holes.  I ended up researching some many different things. One thing I researched was the whole Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle connection.

I also ended up trying to clarify a relationship in a family tree on ancestry. It ended up as an arts and craft project. This chart is literally just for my own viewing. But when you find yourself writing stuff like this in the notes of ancestry.com - Abigail Hoyt was married to William Young who was a sibling of Eliza Young , my 3rd Great Grandmother. Eliza Young married Kinsey Virgin Jr.  Her daughter Mary Eliza married Abigail's brother, James Mitchell Hoyt. James Mitchell Hoyt's daughter, Mollie Married Reason Hoyt a nephew of James Mitchell Hoyt and Abigail Hoyt Young Lemley.

I am like hold my glue bottle I can do better than the janky chart above.

Don't you think the above is much better.  Ha ha.

50 Suns - 41/50 Parking Area Sunrise

Saturday, Oct 2, we took a little drive outside of town and stopped in a parking area and took some sunrise shots. We were literally next to the freeway.

Life is too short. Make sure you meet the sunrise or chase the sunset. Do it with the one's you love!

Friday Fun Day - Carlsbad Caverns

Last Friday, we visited Carlsbad Caverns.  This was probably our first official Friday Fun Day since moving to New Mexico. Friday Fun Days are something that was started by my oldest son's transition teacher. We try to do something interesting and fun on Friday's.  You all know I can't resist a cut out.

We decided to walk in via the natural entrance. I think my youngest and I regretted that. It is very strenuous even though you go downhill.

I loved how unbusy it was. We didn't see hardly anyone until we arrived at the Big Room. They were smart and took the elevator.

This could have been an expensive outing, but I am lucky enough to have a National Park Veteran's Pass. So other than the $3 for a reservation, the entry fee was free for the 3 of us.

We enjoyed our time, but we got out in time to eat our packed lunch and enjoy the view. Next time it is the elevator for us.
