In my old house, I had a long wall at the top of the stairs where I displayed my love gallery inspired wall. I currently don't have that kind of set up at my current house. I do have a long hallway between two bedrooms so I decided to display all my Loveland Valentine and love themed items. Below is the start.
I have a lot more stuff to hang but this is a start. So much more stuff to hang but it feels good to have some of it up.
This is the space I use to call Heather's Oasis, but I think Hideout has an interesting ring. It had a bookcase, chair, and plants. I decided a while back it would be nice to have a work surface, so my husband built me a bar top out of a piece of bowling lane. I think it turned out. I do a lot of writing and typing and reading in this space. I would like a spot to do some creative projects too. The stool was clearance from Sam's.
My teddy bear sunflowers are doing well also. I love how soft they look.
I bought some Zinna starts early in the season for my porch and then sowed some Zinna seeds. They are really leggy. I would like to grow Zinnas again not for my front porch. They got extremely leggy.
I spent talking time talking to my best friend about future garden plans. I got ideas. I will grow some more dahlias and will grow them on this side of the shop. Lots of lessons learned because of the high heat. When I close out the garden I plan on posting on some things I would like to grow next year.
The other day my friend posted a barbie riding a horse. This was all stuff she found in her new to her backyard. I thought I would show you the finds from our new to us backyard. Doesn't everyone want to find treasure in their backyard.
Marbles, Plastic Sheep, Doll Plate Metal, Pottery. butter Knife and so much glass. We literally find glass every time we are outside. I don't know what happened in that backyard.

Background
We bought a house June 2022 in NEW MEXICO! It is a 1950's house that had been somewhat updated. We bought it for its huge backyard. The kitchen will need to be completely renovated in the future. It is tiny and somewhat functional. We were all about making it work. Below is what it looked like.
Where we are now. We have painted the paneling a filmy green. We removed all the decals from the cabinets. We took down the ceiling fan. We added an additional unfinished cabinet between the stove and refrigerator. We want to wait to do a complete renovation down the line. This room is odd but mostly functional.
Well we have this little enclosed back porch. I had an outdoor/ oasis at my previous house. I knew I wanted part of this space as a place to hang out/hide. I used my back patio at my old house. At this new house, I spend about an hour each day keeping office hours as I call them. This is when I read my book club book, blog, and pay bills. It is usually from 8am to 9 am. This is my hour to get my day started. I started this spring to do my office hour out on our back enclosed porch. It was a mess. This had turned into a landing place for lots of misc stuff. We have a small closet we are using for tool storage. We also have our upright freezer here as well. I am trying to keep all that stuff on one side of the space. Here below is a picture of how it looked.
This is what you could see from the rocking chair I have on one side. It was a disaster.
I worked on it a bit and at least you could sit more easily here. Still a boat load of junk everywhere and not that great if working conditions.
I decided to put the coffee table that my dad made during high school in the oasis. I also got a 9.99 palm from Sam's club. Getting a great tropical desert oasis vibe.
My Husband gave me an early Mother's Day gift of a bookcase. He built it to fit just right.
Above is the oasis in the current state. It is looking pretty good. I hope to add a rug and I will call it good enough.
We stained it at the end of a hot day and the stain dried almost immediately. It was the first project we made a top of our slab for the workshop.
I am missing my love wall. I did make a little Valentine Vignette above my China Cabinet.
The R is from a salvage store. The wooden heart was purchased from the local Walmart from nonprofit group that houses homeless people. The love was purchased from Walmart. The picture is a framed Loveland Colorado Valentine card. See better picture below of Valentine. Loveland holds a competition each year for the Valentine card design and cachet verse. My parents usually send me one of the Valentine cards.

I had mentioned to my husband that I thought it would be easier to paint and do anything in this cabinet if the glass sliding doors were removed. The glass doesn't slide very well. I asked him how hard it would be to remove them. I have decided to put off painting this until the first of the year. It is a PROJECT. I woke up last Friday to the glass removed. It was such a nice surprise. I removed the black panels I used at Halloween in the back part of the cabinet. I miss them but not very festive.
