Decluttering aka Marie Kondo

Marie Kondo has a new Netflix series based on her books. I actually enjoyed the series better than the book.  It actually got me to declutter a bit probably not enough. But hey it is a start.

Funny thing is the series is having an impact at Thrift Stores - Netflix Series Boosting Local Thrift Stores Donations

I have written about her book The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up twice in my Diary Of A Homemaker Series - Spotless and Who is the Heck is Marie Kondo

My Top Reading Picks of 2018

These are the books that stuck with me for 2018.  They all are amazing reads

The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
I am a big fan of Kristin but I always ended up needing tissues for her reads.

Beartown
This is a book I wouldn't have picked up but Modern Mrs Darcy's Book Flight had me reading it. So glad I did.

Educated by Tara Westover
This true story is incredible.

The Big Burn by Timothy Egan

This is part of of county's Whatcom Reads.  This is a book I wouldn't of picked up on my own. It is extremely topical in light of all the really really big fires that have happened in the last year. It is really worth the read. I have to say parts of this book have haunted me.

Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan
I also enjoyed the book and movie. I am still waiting to read the sequels.

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
I heard this is going to be turned into a movie.  I can't wait. This was a pick by Reese Witherspoon

What I Read January

I am linking up with the Modern Mrs Darcy's Quick Lit.  Check out what everyone else is reading.

Well my reading life seems to ground to a temporary halt but I did finish Walking to the End of the World at the end of December.  Walking the Camino De Santiago has been a bucket list item for me.  This couple, Beth and Eric Jusino,  was from Seattle so almost local to me.  I enjoyed their descriptions.  They started walking The Way of Saint James in France. They didn't walk for religious reason but rather to escape their busy life. Beth isn't a super athlete and had never walked a long distance trail.  It was a good read.

I have a great round up of all the ARM CHAIR ADVENTURES READS - check it out. I need to do an update

Here is the link to my top reads of 2018

Anyone have suggestions for some real life adventure reads?

One Little Word 2019

Ali Edwards came up with the one little word instead of a resolution.  Here is more info on Ali Edward's one little word. I have participated in various forms for many years.  Last year my word was clarity.  This year I choose JOY.

I wrote that on the back of one of my planner. I am missing fun and enjoyment in my life. I am going to seek a lot more opportunities for that.  If things are going to be tough, I want to find the joy in that. I refuse to choose misery. I want to enjoy this ride called life whatever it brings.
