Ron Finley Ted Talk reminded me of a book written by Novella Carpenter called Farm City. Novella was basically an urban homesteader for lack of a better term. She started Ghost Town Farm in Oakland, CA. She no longer has that but the farm still exists. Check out her blog Urban Orchardist
