House to Home - End Table Situation

I don't think I have ever shown much of our family room. We had a love seat with no end table nearby and not much wall. The other day we were browsing Walmart clearance and found these plant stands. It was a no brainer for $6.50.

House to Home - China Cabinet Shelfie

Our kitchen has a built-in china cabinet. I have been working on making it look good. The glass doors don't slide the best. Our last kitchen had a coffee theme, so I styled the top shelf in that theme

Left side of top shelf. Coffee sign was from tractor supply. The rest of the decor was thrifted.

This is the right side of top shelf. The "Back to Grind" was from Hobby Lobby some years back. The cup, coffee grinder, kettle, and mug were thrifted. The glass apple was a gift.

Middle Shelf look has my glass candle stick collection, Madrid depression glass, and thrifted scale. The bottom shelf is totally random with some wine glasses.

Made a pilgrimage to US Bank in Clovis NM.  We accomplished our mission thanks to a very helpful bank manager. I am betting not many are making a pilgrimage to Clovis NM. We did find out it is one of the largest producers of Cheese and Whey.  Shout out to Southwest Cheese.  It was 2.5 hours' drive to get too Clovis from our current location.

What I Read September

I am linking up with Modern Mrs Darcy's Quick Lit.  Check out what everyone else is reading

The Maid by Nita Prose

My friend recommended this book. It is about a hotel maid named Molly aka Molly the Maid that gets involved in some shady dealings unintentionally. Molly while not explicitly spelled out is on the spectrum and does not read people's social ques well.  I thought this was an interesting book. I didn't expect the deep undertones.

The quote below is advice from Molly the Maid's gran and it was one that I kept thinking about. I think this would be a good book discussion question.

Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson

I re read this book.  I read it in 2019 but I am participating in Sharon Says So Third Semester Book Club.  This is a heavy read. I cried again re reading this book. This the real-life stories of Bryan and his fight to get innocent people off death row.  IT says a lot about how justice is served in this country. I am looking forward to hearing the author talk. Just Mercy was written in 2014.

Tribute Wordy Wednesday

My best friend's mom passed away. I considered her a friend and I think she thought of me as a friend too She was in great pain in her last days, and I know she would never want to be defined by that. Just a little list I made about her.

 Inappropriate Thought

*** I want to preface the following comments as a joke. I would never harm anyone intentionally.

I am frustrated a lot lately.  Do you realize there is a turkey hotline at Thanksgiving?  I think there needs to be a potential homicide line. I would call it THROTTLE.  The level I have seen red lately can't be overstated and I feel if I could report my potential homicide to a caring individual.  I would at least be heard. I don't feel suicidal over the situations I find myself in, but I do feel potentially homicidal.

50 Sun Project Update - 38/50

Last September I posted my first Sunset picture and an idea for a project to celebrate my 50th Year.(More Details) In November I will turn 51 and the project will be complete.  I started in Oct so I technically gave myself one extra month.  50Sun 1/150. I still have 12 more pictures to take so I thought. I went back and realized I skipped pictures 14, 15, and 16.  So I have 15 photos to take after this photo

Photo taken 9/5/2022 on the outskirts of Artesia NM. We almost missed this sunset. New Mexico does not disappoint

House to Home - Houseplants Make IT Homey

There is something about adding some plants that makes a house feel more welcoming or just like home to me. Plants are definitely something I miss from my old house. I had a very large house plant collection. (I like Big Plants / Confessions of a Plant Hoarder) I was sad to have to give them away.

I have had this stand for 24 years. My husband built it in our 2nd apartment. I bet our neighbors loved that. The stand next to it was made on the lathe by grandfather.

I love the affordability and style of this planter by Better Homes and Garden for Walmart. You can't beat the price point for a 6-inch pot for $6.97. The plant is a star aloe.

I also have this 8-inch white planter as well and also a decent price.

Inappropriate Confession

I have never baked in my bread maker until this week. I have mixed up lots and lots of dough. Have I not used this appliance to its fullest, perhaps. Am I alone in this club? I HAVE QUESTIONS.

Bread Machine Sesame Bread

It turned out okay. This was also the same evening I bonked my head and had to get staples. My family prefer my other sesame bread recipes that can be mixed in the bread machine on the dough setting.

Sesame Seed Bread Machine Recipe - 0ne loaf and bakes in the oven. Dough setting used on bread machine

Braided Sesame Semolina Bread - This makes two braided loaves. It has directions for mixing by hand and Using the Bread Maker to mix the dough. Picture above is before baked.
