Day 21 of 100 days of Creativity

I whipped up this little scrapbook page for my older son.  He got to go to a shellfish farm with a school group.  I made my page entirely using the Project Life App .  This literally took me 5 minutes.  I did change it around 3 times but even that was easy. I love love love the app.  It is a free app to boot but of course, if you want to add some flair you can do in app purchases of different scrapbook kits.

Yard Geocache and Girl Scouts

We have a yard geocache. We created it for a New Year's Day event.  This week we were lucky to have a whole girl schout troop visit our geocache. Despite the rain. The girls found the log which was the tricky part. Description of the cache below

One of our top 2019 Geocaching Resolutions is to avoid hiding OBIVIOUS geocaches. No containers that scream, "This is a geocache!"  Absolutely no "X" marks the spot.

What I read April

I am linking up with Modern Mrs Darcy's Quick Lit. Please check out what everyone else is reading.

Maid by Stephanie Land

This book had quite a bit of buzz so I requested it from the library.  This is the story of Stephanie's life as a single mother working in the housecleaning business.  I think this would be a great book flight with the book Eviction.  Stephanie was never evicted but discusses many of the same issues of poverty and making a living as a single parent. I guess what is disheartening is the choices that people that live on the poverty line have to make - living conditions that aren't greatest and daycare options that no one should have to experience.  Sometimes getting public assistance is a full time job. This book stuck with me. It hit even closer as basically Stephanie lived in the same area that I currently reside - The Great Pacific Northwest/

The Gown by Jennifer Robson

This fictional account of making of Princess Elizabeth's now Queen Elizabeth wedding gown told from the prospective of the embroiders from Hartnell's and a granddaughter of one of the embroiders.  The book is set in 1947 just after the war. If you are a royal fan, this book is exceptional. I thought it was a great story based on a historical event.  I actually could not put this book down.

100 days of Creativity - Day 11

I have been working on a long term genealogy project.  I have been working on a way to creatively put all the info I have found together.  Sometimes Photoshop and I don't get along. This takes way longer than I anticipated as well. I decided to create a Photoshop/scrapbook  page for certain ancestors.  I hope to show the completed version soon. Picture is a sneak peek.

Creativity is Still Happening - 100 days of Creativity

Sometimes you just don't have a whole lot to show for it. There is definitely some stuff happening behind the scenes. But I did draw this bunny on my chalkboard. That should count right. The chalk board is just painted with chalkboard paint on a piece of scrap wood.

100 Days of Creativity - Day 5

Today I was messing around drawing with my Cricut Maker that we got for our business.  I was using the draw function. The squirrel above is a cut pattern for the maker that I turned it into a drawing. I then colored it.  I am trying to explore the maker functions so we can use it better in our business. We have lots of creative ideas just not sure how to execute all of them. Here is a good tutorial I found at See Lindsay

Autism Awareness Month

I spend a lot of time waiting for the bus at the transit center. My older son takes a bus to and from work. It takes a little over an hour each way for a 3 hour job that he does 4 days a week.  I am so incredibly proud of him.  He spent over a year consistently applying and interviewing for a paying job. We are talking hundred's of applications and a handful of interviews. This is his first paying job.  What does this have to do with Autism Awareness Month?  My son is on the autism spectrum.  He spreads awareness everywhere he goes.  He could use some more acceptance. Acceptance is an action and not passive tolerance. Acceptance means making the world a better more inclusive place. Oh couldn't the world use that for everyone? I wait at the transit center sometimes to remove the barrier of a long ride home. Happy Autism Acceptance month

100 days of Creativity - Days 3 and 4

Sometimes creativity needs adventure.  I got to take a rare girls day adventure.  My favorite 14 year old friend was having a pointe shoe fitting for her first pair. SO EXCITING!  I got invited to go along with her and her Mom.  Since we were in Seattle, we visited the University of Washington cherry blossoms in the quad.  They did not disappoint. There were so many blossoms and so many people. Then we took the light rail into downtown Seattle.  We walked the downtown area and Pike Place Market. I got over 17,000 steps and according to my fitbit over 69 sets of stairs. I was tired when I got home. When I got home at 9 pm.  I decided to crank out a couple scrapbook pages. I use the digit project life app.  I literally did 2 pages with journaling in 10 minutes. Then this morning while drinking I knocked out 2 more. I thought I would share one below.
I am huge fan of Project Life.  I use the phone app probably 95 percent of the time.  The phone app is free by the way.  I also am a fan of the Cultivate a Good Life podcast which is hosted by Becky Higgins, creator of project life, and her friend Becky Proudfit.  I was really thinking about their Episode 26 Travel Documenting when I took pictures. I noticed how much more aware I was.

100 days of Creavity - Day 2

I did a directed drawing of  flowers by Kitchen Table Mom. She has a video which is very helpful. I enjoyed it. This was about a 25 minute project. I thought my effort was Meh.  However, it did feel good to stretch my creativity.  I feel rusty. Quite truthfully I might give this project a go at the end of the 100 days to see if I did really stretch my creativity.

100 days of creativity/projects

I have been hearing about this over on Instagram.  I am going to try to do something creative everyday and record it.  Some will be longer projects and some will be like the first day I did yesterday - April 1. I envision it covering letter boards, scrapbooking, interior projects, outdoor projects, and baking projects.

My letter board was from Walmart but my husband - C and C Custom Frames built a custom frame for it.  It hangs in my laundry room and you see it when you enter from garage. I am a big letter board fan and try to change my sign frequently. Below is example of some of my letter boards. I made the collage in Project Life App.
