Inappropriate Thoughts

I got the big fat nothing.  It is the temperature of the sun here for the last couple of days. It got to 110 yesterday. I did figure out what color my discount geranium was as it finally bloomed.  I am watering plants like crazy. How is that for excitement?

Adult Art and Crafts - Continuous LIne Owl

One of my summer bucket list items was preschool art for adults.  I tried out Andrea's continuous line owl. It was fun. Don't think it looks like an owl.  It was relaxing. Calling this a win. I gave it a couple of tries.

Definately put this in the category of process art for me.

Throwback Thursday

I haven't done that in a while. My husband and I have 2 wedding anniversaries. We married once at the courthouse and got ceremonially married at a church. This past week was our legal anniversary. We don't usually celebrate that one. We have been married 28 years.  I sent the pictures below to my husband. I asked him later if he received them. He asked who are those people (honestly). I SAID," US!" I then proceeded to laugh my head off.  According to my old neighbor, marriage was hard on us. LOL Yes 29 years ago, my husband and friend were jumping bikes off a dock in Tennessee and my husband basically pushed me off the dock.  Yes, I am sticking my tongue out. Glad we took the jump.

You got to love the pink swim trunks.

Weekly Roll - Happy Father's Day

Linky Love

Mason Jar Lid Suncatcher - I am intrigued by this idea with hankies. Kid Suncatcher with Mason Jar Lids

The Way I Heard It - Bonus Class of 23 - Mike Rowe - short and sweet podcast. It is good.

Inappropriate Thoughts

The other day my husband asked me if I wanted my coffee and if I was using the Beth Moore Mug.  I am like what Beth Moore Mug?  Then it dawned on me that he meant my Beth Dutton coffee mug. Those are vastly different people and one of them is fictional. It made me crack up.  Evidently, I talk way too much about Beth Moore Bible Studies and behave way too much like Beth Dutton. Yes, you can love a Beth Moore bible study and appreciate the fiery Beth Dutton on Yellowstone.

Deep Thoughts

I am so lucky to have my Dad on the right in above picture.  My kids are lucky to have a Dad too - guy on the left.  Happy Father's Day to all the dad's and people that play that role in a kid's life. IT is an important job.

Backyard Archelogy

The other day my friend posted a barbie riding a horse. This was all stuff she found in her new to her backyard. I thought I would show you the finds from our new to us backyard. Doesn't everyone want to find treasure in their backyard.

Marbles, Plastic Sheep, Doll Plate Metal, Pottery. butter Knife and so much glass.  We literally find glass every time we are outside. I don't know what happened in that backyard.

June Booking It

I am linking up with Modern Mrs Darcy's Quick Lit.  Check out what everyone else is reading.

My reading has slowed to a snail's pace.  I read one book. It is my book club book.

Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi

This is a tale of two half-sister's born in different villages in Ghana and the different fates of their families. Some of the setting is Ghana and some of the setting is the United States.  Yaa Gyasi is a master storyteller.  I am looking forward to meeting the author. I found this a quick read. I read it like a pleasure book the first half and then attending my first book club meeting on it and found I wanted to read it more closely.  This is a great read however you approach it.

Inappropriate Thoughts

Yes, I am the one who picks up sticks at the park for her nearly toothless dog.

Deep Thoughts

My dear friend, Mrs Epi last child graduated from High School. I remember sitting at her first child's graduation and just feeling so proud of my friend and her husband. I was of course proud of their daughter. I think I actually turned to them and said that.  It is a remarkable feat to get a child to this milestone this is not to diminish the child's accomplishments.  There is all the invisible/visible work of the parents. I just want to give a shout out to these two - GOOD JOB!

52 ancestors - So Many Descendants

The 52 ancestor prompt from Amy Johnson Crow's 52 ancestors in 52 weeks was "So Many Descendants". I chose my ancestor John Christian Brenneman.  John C Brenneman is my 4th Great Grandfather.  He had at least 24 children and was married twice. I estimate he had 190 grandchildren. I am continuing to research.

I had a hard time pinning down birthdates. This isn't a complicated tree but there is not much collaborating information. After several months of research this is the best, I could come up with.

John Christian Brenneman was born 1 May 1770 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to Daniel Brenneman and Barbara Menard. John grew up on his father's farm in Virginia, later moving with him to Westmoreland Count, Pennsylvania. John married Maria Catharina Schmidt about 1793. John began farming in North Huntingdon Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. About 1810 John purchased a large tract of land in Clarion County and moved there, settling on the Clarion River jus wet of the county seat. Listed below are the children believed to be born to this union.

1-Barbara J McNaughton 1798 -1882

2-Mary Ann (Polly) Walters 1800-1866

3-Elizabeth McNaughton 1801-1854

4-Daniel Brenneman 1801 - 1883

5-John Brenneman Jr 1804-1864

6-Frederick Brenneman 1805-1861

7-*Henry Smith Brenneman 1805-1861

8-Christian Brenneman 1810-1891

9-Peter Brenneman 1810- 1900

10-Frances "Fanny" Paul 1812-1870

11-Esther Fitzgerald 1816-1899

12-Sarah Ann Smith 1817-1877

13-Catherine Dunlap 1819-1860

14-Henry Brenneman 1820-1891

15-David Brenneman 1822-1826

16-Susan Brenneman 1823-1907

17-Elizabeth Brenneman 1824-1826

18-Campbell Brenneman 1825

19-Adam Brenneman 1822-1908

20-Hannah Dahle 1825-1907

In 1826, John married Sylvia Silvis Adams. Their children are below

21-Elmira Dunkle 1827-1898

22-Susan Elder 1830-1887

23-Rachel Rowena Brenneman 1832-1870

24-? Daughter Brenneman 1835

The Last of the Adventure Van Crew Graduating

I can't believe the last of the Adventure Van Crew is Graduating. I am sad not to be in person to watch this one cross the field. I would definitely be inappropriately yelling your name.

She is the sassy caboose of our group.  I can't wait to see how she changes the world. This one is the maverick and the trail blazer. You kind of have to be when you are the youngest of your siblings.

This is the child who gave me and my best friend the silent treatment at 2 years old.  I kid you not.  I am also sure we probably deserved it too. She knew even at 2 what was for her and what was not. I have often called her the Princess of Quite A lot.  She is so creative. We have crafted together. This one is a baker extraordinaire. I need her lemon bar recipe because it is delicious.  She is a dancer and watching her dance has given me a lot of Joy. So proud of all you have done and what lies ahead. Congratulations!

How Does My Garden Grow

Well I have moved to the high desert basically. What I did in Western Washington is probably going to be less successful here.  Though I live where there is water but high heat.   I also have dogs that like to dig.  I am doing mainly container flower gardening. This is what I have been doing.

It started with my Janky Seed Set Up. Below are pictures of my containers

Weekly Roll

Saw these cactuses in bloom behind a local thrift store. They are just so beautiful.

The Curious Case of Natalia Grace - This is a wild true story and even after watching I am still conflicted. It seems like everyone is a liar.

Lemon Bars - Budget Bytes. These were delicious but not quite as good as my friend's bars. I have lemon bar envy

Inappropriate Thoughts

I really think homeowner's Spanish should be taught in high school.  My high school Spanish teacher would be appalled at the state of my Spanish.  The phrases I need to say

You water is running. You need to shut it off.

The insulation is over there.

Turn the music down. My neighbors already hate us.

Deep Thoughts

I watched Shiny Happy People - It was about the Duggars.  I thought it was well done and married the Gothard IBPL story with the Duggars. But I just kept thinking and I have thought in my adult years how many times people have been harmed by organized religion.  How worshiping the structure of the church instead of God.  How the church has brushed under the rug sexual assault and various other crimes. We wonder why church membership has declined.  I am still a believer, but I am less likely to join a church than ever before. I have felt in the past that I can't reach the bar of membership - not religious enough, won't follow their arbitrary rules, ask too many questions, and sometimes not broken enough. Isn't my belief enough to be included in your congregation?

52 Ancestors - Brick Wall

I have written about various brick walls I have in my genealogy - Geneva Mae Wolfe

My current one is Jane Marie Devolt (Devault) Hoyt.  I do not know who her parents are. I actually know a bit about her teenage years through the census records(1850). I found a land bounty that I believe is for her brother, Abraham Johnson Devolt who died 1846 a causality in the Mexican American War.  The land bounty lists his only heirs as his brothers and sisters - Lewis, Jesse, Sarah Clifford, James Hiram, and Jane. George Virgin is listed as the Guardian of the infants (minors) James, Hiram, and Jane

These are facts below

In the 1850 census, Jane is found in the census living in the household of Kinsey and Eliza Virgin. (my 3rd great grandparents) in Ohio. This household is a mixture of relatives living together.  I cannot tie her to the Virgin household as a relative. Interesting her purported older brother Hiram Devault and older sister, Sarah Clifford, lived with another Virgin relative, George Virgin. Yes, the same George who died by mixing up his colic medicine and vermin poison. This same George who is listed as the guardian of in the Land bounty. Jane is listed as age 14 in the census.

1855 (July 5) married William Hoyt in Mason Illinois.

Jane's married life is fairly well documented in Census records.  Jane and William Hoyt had 7 children - 4 boys and 3 girls.

Jane died February 4, 1894, in Cass County, Iowa where she and her husband homesteaded.  She was only 55 years old. William Hoyt would live until 1898.

What I have researched

I have researched the various siblings all seem to have limited information if none at all. I have read the entire land bounty.  I do find it interesting the Virgin family connection but after much research I can't connect the Devault's )Devolt's to the Virgin's .  The lack of mother and father seem to be a common denominator. Other than the census records, there is no death certificate and she does not appear in the local newspaper that I can find.

Feeling Inspired

Zinnas

I wasn't able to grow any flowers last year because I moved.  I have been watching Growing Floret Season 2 and I am just so inspired as usual to have cut flowers. I am a huge fan of Erin. I thought I would share some of my previous cut flowers. I started with Calendula and gifted rose bushes from Nanna.  My neighbor was really into Astilbe so I tried some of that. I later grew Zinnias.  My best friend started me on Dahlia's. I saw someone else growing bunny tails and  I grew those one year too.
