Inappropriate Thoughts

handed out candy from our driveway

We had 4 trick or treaters on Halloween. There was a big high school football game, so most people trick or treated on November 1. We had 17 trick or treaters on Saturday.  We also had an explosion at our local refinery on Halloween.  Luckily there were only 3 with minor injuries.

These gals from Texas had the Best T-shirts

I attended a genealogy conference in Roswell NM held by the Wilson Cobb Genealogy Library. We had a genealogist speaker Pamela Vestal from Oregon. She was a terrific speaker, and her presentation was "Finding the Hidden Story." I am so grateful for the opportunity to attend.  I always learn something new. There is a real value to going to an in-person conference. I will say I was on the younger end of the attendees.

A bit Janky Halloween Craft

This 3-D Ghost is a good craft. I just didn't really execute it like it should. It is fun but not fine art. I decided it needed something more, so I added cobwebs.

Idea from karleegailbowman - hers is executed perfectly

Ghost Shelfie

I couldn't resist this ghost drinking coffee print from Etsy. I have a digital download weakness. This print makes me smile.  I had a 5 x 7 printed at Walgreens on a 50% deal.  I had the frame.

Gothic Coffee Halloween Shelfie

This gothic coffee Halloween shelfie is very similar to last year. I added mini bones and a skull. I got from the dollar store. I did paint and wipe them off. I like the aged look.

My favorite part was the skulls in my Madrid depression glass jar.  I just like it.

Below are some more close ups.  This is all stuff I have had from previous Halloween's.

Adult Arts and Crafts - Watercolor Frank's and Pumpkins

This is another Andrea Nelson Art project. The Frankenstein's are basically watercolor blobs enhanced with pen. This is the same for the pumpkins below.

Gothic Coffee Halloween Shelfie

I changed it up a bit this year. I added Spanish moss to coffee mugs and coffee pots. I also have the skeleton hands. Hands from the Dollar Tree.  The Fortune sign is also from the Dollar Tree.  I really like it. Now if I can only get the bottom shelf from being a dumping ground for my family.

2022 Gothic Floral Coffee Shelfie We have lost the glass doors and changed the color of the cabinet. I am really liking this year's version.

Pallet Pumpkin Lanterns

I was inspired by the cedar fence post pumpkin lanterns.  I am more of a do with what you have kind of gal.  My husband actually did all the work.  I am the idea person.  Ha Ha That is a skill that I am amazing at.

He took a pallet apart.  He used a planer to mill the wood to the same size.  He has been borrowing a laser cutter, so he used it to cut out the face.

This all the stuff the average crafter does not have.  We did not purchase any wood or materials for this project. I linked below some more average crafting pumpkin lanterns made with cedar fencing.

I asked him to make them to be able to nest for storage purposes. The stems have magnets so they can be removed for storage purposes. He countersunk the magnets.

House to Home - Halloween Decor

There are a few holidays I really enjoy decorating for and one of them is Halloween Starting over in a new place is fun.  I did clear out my Halloween tote prior to the move. I have had several Halloween sayings up on my letterboard.  Above is the one currently on my letterboard.

I did have my bat cut outs. This is a cheap decor decoration with lots of impact.

I also had the pottery barn knock off bats that my husband made. I think they look great in the window.

Sam's Club had these sugar skull planters and I think they look great on my table.

I have already shown off my Floral Gothic Coffee China Cabinet Decor.

Inappropriate Thoughts or How I have been Influenced

Have you seen the sheet ghost trend. I convinced my oldest to let me put a sheet on his giant bear. Then I donned the floral sheet. Can't do the white sheet and I don't have one either.

Guess this is a viral Tik Tok trend. Cute Ghost here and controversy here

Convinced my husband to make this Cinnamon Roll Skelton found through Livingwithlady on Instagram

Weekly Roll

Well last week was the passing of Loretta Lynn, country star legend. My mind was blown that Crystal Gayle was Loretta Lynn's sister.  My parents are huge Crystal Gayle fans and that is part of the soundtrack of my childhood.

Inappropriate Thoughts also known as HOLD MY GLUE BOTTLE

This week was littered with rabbit holes.  I ended up researching some many different things. One thing I researched was the whole Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle connection.

I also ended up trying to clarify a relationship in a family tree on ancestry. It ended up as an arts and craft project. This chart is literally just for my own viewing. But when you find yourself writing stuff like this in the notes of ancestry.com - Abigail Hoyt was married to William Young who was a sibling of Eliza Young , my 3rd Great Grandmother. Eliza Young married Kinsey Virgin Jr.  Her daughter Mary Eliza married Abigail's brother, James Mitchell Hoyt. James Mitchell Hoyt's daughter, Mollie Married Reason Hoyt a nephew of James Mitchell Hoyt and Abigail Hoyt Young Lemley.

I am like hold my glue bottle I can do better than the janky chart above.

Don't you think the above is much better.  Ha ha.

Gothic Floral Coffee Halloween China Cabinet

Sometimes I get an idea and I just can't let go of it. Like I told a friend it makes sense in my brain. Doing creative things like this make me happy. I was inspired by an Instagram kevrosefarm and their cabinet. I also was inspired by Kara's Party Ideas and the Moody Fortune Teller Party.

The Details

I wrapped cardboard with chalkboard wrapping paper from Hobby lobby to turn the back of cabinet matte black. I think it makes the decor pop.
