My local radio station was talking about Dolly Parton's version of Shine.  I really like it. It is an oldie but a goodie

Inappropriate Thoughts

I had to make a new rule for MYSELF.  No Baking before coffee.  I managed to make muffin soup with prepackaged muffin mix.  I used 2 packages and evidently, I couldn't do the morning baking math before my coffee.  Yikes!  Coffee is my brain power.

Making Homemade Valentine's

I used to make homemade Valentine's with my kids.  I really send out more Valentine's cards than Christmas cards.  I like to think I am sending out some good mail.  It is a little, "Hey I am thinking about you." The internet is FULL of ideas.  I am linking some ideas I saw that were inspiring to me and all aren't necessarily cards. The ideas could be adapted to cards.  The thing is it doesn't have to be complicated.  Some of my best cards I have made were fairly simple.

I decided homemakers need athletic trainers.  We are really athletes when you think about it.  I have a friend who is studying to be an athletic trainer.  The have trainers for everything Cheer and Rodeo. Then I was reminded that our children are our trainers. Ha Ha!  My youngest said in other words you just want a massage therapist.  YES!

Valentine Shelfie

Is it too soon?  I have had this up since last week.  I know but I  just have Valentine's on the brain and it was looking so bare. This is very similar to the display I did last year.

This was all stuff I had.  I am contemplating one small change in one of the frames.  However it is with all things I have on hand.  The figurines are Kim Anderson.  My Mom and Dad gifted them to me many many valentine's ago in my teen years.

52 Ancestors - Favorite Photo

I have shared this photo of my Grandma Marvel before. I assume it was taken at her home outside of Cumberland Iowa. Her father farmed there for many years. Marvel was the youngest of 3 children.  The photo makes me smile. I have written about her before in 52 Ancestors - School  and 52 Ancestors - Kitchen

This is part of the writing prompts of the 52 Ancestry project by Amy Johnson Crow

Roses - Floret's Series on Heirloom Roses is a must read.  PLEASE READ #4 for sure- Erin's interview with Anne Belovich - A Rose Story  This is about more than growing roses. I believe in a long ago weekly roll I shared floret's Instagram picture of Anne's overgrown rose garden.

***Picture above is of some of my roses.  They were actually gifted to me from my Husband's Nanna. I was gifted 5 bushes and 2 have survived. They even moved with me from San Diego to the Pacific Northwest

What I Read 2022 - January

I am linking up with Modern Mrs Darcy's Quick Lit.  Check out what everyone else is reading.

Well not exactly starting off the New Year with a bang of new books read. I did squeak out one book.

My Name is Venus Black by Heather Lloyd

This was Heather Lloyd debut novel.  It was a good story set in the Seattle area about Venus who was incarcerated and then released.  During her time in jail, her younger brother came up missing. Venus has a complicated relationship with her mother. This book also follows the story of her brother, Leo,  and his fate.

I am a extremely low maintenance person. I don't wear make-up.  But over the holidays I painted my nails.  I painted them a very bold red color. I got so many comments on them even from strangers. The guy at ACE Hardware told me he loved my nails. I think he might of been flirting.  It was awkward. I loved it. The color is sally Hansen  #470 Unbreakable Heart. Somehow that fits me. BUT who comes up with nail color names. It is probably the same people who come up with paint colors.

Weekly Roll - The Deep Freeze

 Inappropriate Thoughts

I have a confession, "I don't ever want a white Christmas."  The kind of snow we receive up here in the Pacific Northwest just barely south of the Canadian  Border,  the upper left, is not hallmark snow. We have what is called the Frasier Outflow.  We got the white Christmas with wind chill, drifting snow, and frozen pipes and more ill timed snow  Spent most of the week in negative numbers due to wind chill. When I am that cold, I have seriously inappropriate thoughts. I actually sent a text to my friend that says - finally flushes.  If that isn't inappropriate and a testament to my friend who actually understood that, I don't know what is.

50 Sun Project

Well I had quite the driving morning on 12/30/21.  This is 15/50. I had my son take this sunrise picture. We had 6 inches of snow and I drove in 4 x 4 for the first time. The picture is deceptive because this was the clearest part of the road at 9 am .  Maybe this isn't really a sunrise picture but going to count it as one.

This was taken on the last day of the year - 12/31/2021. This is 16/50 in the sun project. My husband pointed out to me this clearly shows hallmark snow.  I have to say that 12/30 and 12/31 were actual days with sun and no wind so I guess maybe hallmark worthy.

one little word for 2022

I generally like one little word for New Year's instead of a resolution. I have been doing this for a lot of years. Ali Edwards started this on her blog years ago.

Have you ever had a little chat with yourself and said these things/thoughts/ideas don't serve me well as a person?  I am there.

I was originally going to choose transform as my one little word but I have decided PURSUE is more accurate.  I was inspired by the quote below.

I even put it on my 2022 dollar store planner.  It was a pain to cut the vinyl for this. I picked this because of the sunset vibe.

I put a few quotes in my planner as well. My husband should of never left the label maker unattended. I also made a similar version for a friend.

I am done with pursing the hard life. Not that I won't encounter the hardness of life but I won't go out of my way to make it harder than it needs to be. I will chase my creative ideas. I will pursue the life that I want to live not the life that others chose for me. This is my one precious life.
