Inappropriate Thoughts

I totally don't have the rights to post my nephew's picture BUT I have a bone to pick with the Denver Zoo.  What do Aliens have to do with wildlife?  Maybe they know like Roswell, NM aliens sell. Aliens and Tepees is a new twist, however. I kind of feel like Aliens are the universal welcome committee.

Side Quest with 2 Eighty Year Olds

Mom and Dad

I was lucky to have my parents for Easter.  I took them to Sitting Bull Falls.  I have been here once before. We drove about an hour to the falls. The falls are fed by a spring.  The rock picnic shelters were built by the conservation corps.  There is a paved path with a viewing platform. It is rare that I just get to spend time by myself with my parents.

I am so proud of the young people in my life taking on new adventures - new jobs and college graduations. Change sometimes comes fast and it is hard for me to keep up.

Throwback Thursday -Trash Rhodie

April 17,2019

This was the beautiful Rhodie on our back patio at our old house in Washington.  We actually rescued it from the trash. Some neighbors up the street had pulled it out and were going to toss it. We asked if we could have it and they gave it to us. It was beautiful when in full bloom.

What I Read April

I am linking up with Modern Mrs Darcy. Check out what everyone else is reading. I have accepted that I am in a season of slow reading.  Does that happen to anyone else?

Challenger by Adam Higginbotham

I read this as the astronauts were finally being brought back to earth.  I just kept thinking about how it was amazing NASA has been able to have any successful missions.  I think the quote below sums up the Challenger disaster and this book.

This is a very detailed book.  I probably wouldn't have picked this one on my own, but I read this as part of a book club. I learned a lot about the Challenger and NASA's space program. It was eye opening and how could this be allowed to happen.  I also learned some new words.

The ethos of there is more to this story and Adam delivers - the slow creep of acceptable risk, over confidence in technology, the politics.

Inappropriate Thoughts

Surprise, surprise the Trail Blazers did not make it to the playoffs. Today is the last day of the regular season.  However, the Bucks my other team is headed to the playoff. So, keep hope alive.

Trash Talk

A bottle cap with a message, 3 socks, the mandatory Allsup Taco Sauce Packet and 11 cents were some of the notable trash found.

Plant Fever

I won't lie I have spring garden fever. It feels like spring has arrived here.

My indoor oasis is the holding area. I have a clematis and a Heather.  The seed flats have zinnia starts. It is a beginning. I am ready to put things in the ground. Our last frost is the middle of April. I am plotting and scheming on what I should plant.

false indigo bush

I picked up the false indigo bushes at the adopt a tree event.  I took Nonna and our muscle Chuck to help us wrangle these little starts. This was a side quest. I got lists.

Throwback Thursday

April 2018

I looked back on my blog and I have never shared this picture before. It is at Devil's Backbone. The Devil's Backbone is a rock formation know as a hogback. I am in back in the picture. My Dad is in tan Fodor. So much boy power in this photo. This was during our Spring Break.

I love this picture of my dad. We had a great hike to come up here.
