It has been a week with an exploding dog (use your imagination) I tested the washable rug concept. There was almost missed dentist appointment, fasting blood test, eye appointment etc... The fun and games never stopped.

Real talk here, Thanksgiving is better with a book and if I had my druthers it would happen in mountain cabin with a full library of books. You know the type of library that has a ladder. There were be unlimited hot drinks and snacks. 

Our Favorite Adventure Books for Every State - I have read Boys in the Boat for Washington State.  There are some really interesting books on this list. I think I am going to have to revisit. I haven't read the book for New Mexico but I will be especially since it is a banned book.

My mother banned me from reading books during cleaning time. Rude!  Evidently, I was spending more time reading than cleaning. I was unmanageable as a child. I think my mom would be startled to know now I follow cleaning Instagrams too.

The world seems like a scary place - school shootings etc

I got to attend a Zoom Author Meet Up with author of the book "Know My Name" Chanel Miller. It was a great opportunity.  I was moved by her book but also from the meet up.  She talked about how small gestures had such a big impact.  Specifically, when someone had the forethought to provide clothing to rape victims when their clothing was taken for forensic examination - Grateful Garments. Also, the day of her trial when she had to testify, and the barista said have a good day and the court reporter winked at her. I reminded to do a little good wherever you can. The gesture doesn't have to be huge it just has to be connection.

I started a daily roll last year at this time. It was the beginning of the pandemic. It was just a way to entertain myself and cope with all that was happening.  The world is a different place  - good, bad, or indifferent. Lately I have been struggling the most during the weekends because I have a expectation that it will be fun or the day will be different. I spend A LOT of time at my house because it is where I work from. My husband does not so I think our expectation of the weekend is different. Sometimes the walls seem to be closing in.  I try to keep an upbeat attitude but constant positive cheerleading is wearing. Last Saturday we made a conscious effort to go on an adventure and it was fun. I hope to blog that adventure soon.

Who abandon's a snowmobile?  This snowmobile has been abandoned by my son's work.  It was just so random On Friday there was also a old motorhome. Maybe there is a theme developing here. Unsolved Mysteries on Reddit

We weren't able to solve who killed Carolyn Baskins husband (she so did it) what makes us think we are going to solve any of the "Unsolved Mysteries" on Netflix. Unsolved Mysteries on Reddit

Secondly, you can make people wear mask but you can't make them wear them correctly. There I said it.

Lastly, I got my haircut and it really improved my mood. Maybe it was the weight of the hair. I know totally vain. It was a morale boost.

Loaf Report

It was loaves of excitement on Friday night for me. I made a total of 4 loaves. These loaves were great.

It was graduation weekend in our small town. On Friday there was a parade of seniors. It was as much of parade as we could have during covid.  It made me happy to see the Class of 2020 reclaim their day. As we were watching I felt like I was with the town crier as my son knew so many seniors. There was also a little boy maybe 4 or older who kept screaming enthusiastically to the crowd, "Class of 2020 is the best."  It was hilarious. 

My best friend's son is a senior and I felt like a very proud auntie. He is a great kid and I can't wait to see what his future holds.

I am just going to post sourdough pictures. I think I am getting the hang of this whole sourdough thing. The other night it was a "three loaf night". Sometimes I crack myself up.

Scientist pin down a link between happiness and one daily activity This was actually posted on a local geocache facebook group. I thought it was super interesting that getting out once a day increases your happiness.

What if we have been primed? I don't link posting links to Covid information. But this article brought up some interesting posts about the repeated language around this event. I even used one of the often repeated phrases as a blog title "new normal". I just thought this was interesting.

What my Coworkers have been Doing?

Oldest took his college mid term. It is for a computer networking class. He started back at his job at a local brewery doing janitorial work.

Youngest practiced some highway driving by picking oldest up from job. The bus schedule is not back to normal. He is 3/4 quarters of way through his distance learning for the year. Oh and he turned 18.

My husband is heading back to his previous out of town work assignment so we are trying to wrap up our decks. It is looking so good

Holy Sourdough!

Still working on sourdough bread. It is a work in progress. I am a pro at sourdough waffles. They were great this week especially since I added all the ingredients this time.

Self -Care is not an Indulgence. It is a discipline. This article was shared on Facebook. I have never really thought of it this way but it is true. "What do I need to do EVERYDAY to show up as my best self"  Then you do those things consistently all those really the mundane things aka boring things - take your vitamins, get enough sleep etc. Those things actually do require a certain kind of discipline. You can only really help others if you have taken care of your self.
