Name Change for Murder Hornets This makes me laugh

Inappropriate Thoughts

Oh, I have so many of these thoughts lately.  Have you ever tried to get rid of a pool table?  We have had our beast for 18 years.  It has served many purposes but lately just a dumping ground.  In case you are wondering it cost $34 to dispose at the dump.

Podcast Recommendations

Hide and Seek Podcast - For all of you that are true crime/missing people podcast followers. Season 3 has dropped. James is investigating the disappearance of Brittany Wallace.

The Vanished Podcast - Really enjoying this missing person podcast.  They do updates as well.

We Can Do Hard Things - Specifically the one with Jen Hatmaker talking about her divorce. For those not familiar with Women Bible Studies and Women of Faith Jen Hatmaker is a mover and shaker in that community and a frequent lighting rod. I found it interesting

Emily D Baker - Legal Commentator and she covers all the celebrity legal proceedings.  I love her podcast AND youtube.  Total tune in every week.

What I Read April

I am linking up with Modern Mrs Darcy's Quick Lit. Check out what everyone else is reading!

I am a little light on titles this month.  It has been a busy one.

Learning in Public by Courtney E Martin

This book I found through Shannan Martin. This is about Courtney's choice to send her daughter to a poor performing neighboring school that was racial not integrated as in there are more people of color. Courtney is white.  Courtney lives in Oakland, CA where school choice is a thing. I found that Courtney spends the first part of this book just overthinking her decision and I understand it is a big decision.  I think a lot of us bring our bias to education - our choices about how our children are deeply personal.  It was an interesting book and helped me examine my own bias. Isn't that what a good book should do? This book was hard for me, but all in all it reinforced a few things for me. Children that come to school with involved parents are always going to do better whether the school is failing or not.  I have great admiration for Courtney because not only did she write about this, but she became active in her daughter's community to make the school parent leadership more actively representative of the student body and continues to be an activist.

Weekly Roll

April is Autism Acceptance Month. For years April has been Autism Awareness Month. It was a needed change. Autism Acceptance Month

I think there is a whole lot of awareness and not a lot of acceptance. Which got me thinking what acceptance looks like.  I think acceptance has a lot to do with connection and creating inclusive communities. Include neuro diverse people because they bring something different to the table.

What Autism Acceptance Looks Like in My Life

How to Create an Autism Inclusive Job Environment My son is very lucky to work at a very inclusive worksite. They graphic is on point.

Inappropriate Thoughts

I like people with loud minds.  I like people whose filter is a little broken. I think I am both of those things.

weekly roll

Saw this gem while waiting in the Goodwill drop off lane. My sister wanted to know if it came with an old lady and mothballs.

Flamingo surfaces after 17 years escaping from a zoo.  This story made me smile

Advice on Life and Creative Integrity by Bill Watterson - Modern Mrs Darcy shared this as one of her linky's and I keep coming back to it.

Inappropriate and Deep Thoughts

I like to read Freewill Astrology. These often run in the free local newspaper.  Almost all the time they are bizarre and sometimes weirdly accurate. A couple weeks ago it told me this was a season of productive worrying.  Productive worry as a mediation to analyze potential problems. I will say that is accurate.  Does anyone else have productive worry?
