Took my 50/50 photo on the first sunset of my 51st year.   It was a windy one. It took an extra person to help me hold this sign up.

52 Ancestors - Tombstones

I am participating in Amy Johnson Cow's 52 Ancestors. The topic for last week was tombstones.

I have written about how one of my ancestors, Herman Pringey founded Newlon Grove Cemetary by donating the first acre. I thought I would share some of the headstones from Newlon Grove Cemetary outside of Cumberland Iowa. 

There is a complete list of graves which is helpful. Below is Herman Pringey's gravestone.

Below is Herman's Sister and Brother Law, Henson Liston, Gravestones. As you can see both served in the same unit. It was Herman that introduced his sister Candance to Henson.

Weekly Roll - Almost Thanksgiving

 

I love toddler art and I can't lie. I made this on a lark. It is a tape resist turkey. Some of us might be gearing up for a Thanksgiving feast. I thought some helpful linky's were in order.

Tape Resist Turkey - Busy Toddler and ThinkCraft. I did this on cardboard, and I don't recommend as the tape doesn't release as well. Cheap craft as I only bought $2 in paint.

Inappropriate Thoughts - I have two

First, we felt an earthquake on Tuesday. I was noticeable. 

I have always thought my rice cooker cup was metric so I would stress out when it was misplaces. Turns out it is a regular cup measurement. I have only owned this FOREVER!  No one was more surprised than I.

venisonfordinner - Kate is a special person.  Love watching her homesteading and showing how homesteading or intentional living is accessible to almost everyone.  I can't believe how much I enjoy her milking videos. Kate doesn't sugar coat. I love her honesty.

myweatheredhome - Emily is a picker extraordinaire and I love her displays with her finds. Her picking with Pops is my favorite stories to watch.

sharonsaysso- Sharon has been described as America's history/government teacher. She makes history and government so understandable. Also described as having golden retriever energy. 

cassie.stephenz Elementary Art Teacher. I particularly like to see "What the Art Teacher Wore." It is my favorite.

 This is a bit of disappointing sunset and it happened at 5:01 pm. I am counting it as I made a special trip to capture. Taken on 11/8/22

The Department of Rare Books and Special Collections by Eva Jurczyk

I enjoyed this book set in a college library. A priceless book is missing and a colleague who holds the answers is at death door.  I have never thought about donors and acquisitions this behind scenes look at an academic library. This was a good, interesting read.

Empire of Pain by Patrick Radden Keefe

This is a Sharon Says So book club selection. This nonfiction book reads like a fictional family drama. The Sackler family developed oxycontin.  This is the story of their family how they developed the drug, marketed, and profited from it. Arthur Sackler the oldest brother revolutionized how drugs were marketed. This is a complex story and Keefe does an amazing job telling it. This is a book that needs to be discussed.  This is a book that will stick with you.

I have been told I need to now need to watch Dopesick
