Word to Your Mother - taking it outside

I am a HUGE fan of temporary art and what is more temporary than sidewalk chalk.  There is a tradition in our house to celebrate birthdays by putting messages on the driveway. I usually do this after people are in bed.  I am sure my neighbors find this weird.

There are some next level people who like to do this as well.  By next level, I mean people who take this chalk stuff seriously as ART. So if you need inspiration.  See below.

What I Read October

I am linking up with Modern Mrs Darcy Quick Lit.  Check out what everyone else is reading this month. This is a double link up as I am also doing my Word to Your Mother Series with the 31 day writers.

I have been watching the Oxygen show The Disappearance of Maura Murray.

They interviewed James Renner so I thought I would check out his book called True Crime Addict - How I lost myself in the mysterious disappearance of Maura Murray. This was an incredibly quick read for me.  It is kinda a scary place inside James Renner's mind.  He has an interesting back story and why it led him to this story. It seems that everyone has a theory on what happened to Maura and Renner discusses what might be his. There seems to be a certain synchronicity to James Renner's life and those who lives he investigates. I don't think I totally agree with his theory on what happened to Maura but it was a good read.

Using the Neon Chalk
Art by Princess of Quite A Lot
There is even chalk pencils.  These don't get dark enough for my liking but are fun to add highlights with the pencil.

Can't Stop Creating - Frayed Pumpkins

I saw these frayed pumpkins on I should be mopping the floor.  I couldn't resist these fabric pumpkins. This is one project I had everything on hand - drop cloth scraps, old stuffing, and sticks.

At Flamingo Toes, their pumpkins were made from chenille and some had silverware for stems. These were slightly constructed differently but I love it.

They turned out cute.  I put them in my reclaimed wood box my husband made for me.
