In honor of the Air Races this week in neighboring Roswell NM.  I thought I would share an aviation photo.  This is from the trip to PYB Naval Museum on Whidbey Island. I am pretty sure I misspelled Whidbey on this Project Life Layout.   It is now called the Pacific Northwest Naval Museum and has moved to Oak Harbor, WA.

This is a favorite picture of my oldest with my parents. It is just so funny to me.  My son acting shocked was hilarious. Picture was taken at the San Diego Zoo in March 2001. We have a lot of good San Diego Zoo memories.

 I thought I would give a shout out to Stan the man aka Stanley.  He accompanied me and my best friend on many walks. He is not a fan of bicycles, and he loves to stop to get up on a bench. I like this picture is taken at Hovander Park Parking Lot and Mount Baker is just peeking out in the picture.

 I really like parades. My best friend likes parades. It was so much fun to watch the band in the parade with my son marching.  The first parade my youngest marched in was at Oak Harbor, WA Holland Days.  I must tell you finding the required white pants was a royal pain. Who thinks white pants are a good thing for a middle school boy?  He is the trumpet player next to the girl.  I can honestly saying playing in Band was transforming for my son.

This was the beautiful Rhodie on our back patio at our old house in Washington.  We actually rescued it from the trash. Some neighbors up the street had pulled it out and were going to toss it. We asked if we could have it and they gave it to us. It was beautiful when in full bloom.

I looked back on my blog and I have never shared this picture before. It is at Devil's Backbone. The Devil's Backbone is a rock formation know as a hogback. I am in back in the picture. My Dad is in tan Fodor. So much boy power in this photo. This was during our Spring Break.

I love this picture of my dad. We had a great hike to come up here.

My mom gave me this picture a couple years back. Yep, I was a Brownie.  I was in Girl Scouts until High School, and I earned the Gold Award similar to the Eagle for Boy Scouts. Scouting was a huge part of my elementary through high school years. I carried this picture in my purse for a good long while. Ever had anything get lost in your purse?

I talk about an adventure I had with the Girl Scouts on a long-ago throwback Thusday. I had to sell a ton of cookies and candy bars for that trip and probably calendars too.

 I am in the process of digitizing my photos and cleaning up my camera roll. I thought I would start sharing a photo from the archives so to speak. It will be from the same date but in the past.

I did childcare before school started.  This little boy loved Godzilla. I mean he loved Godzilla.  We spent a lot of time drawing on kraft paper big cityscapes for Godzilla. I know it was a snowy day from the other photos in my camera roll. I drank a lot of coffee, and the mug is from my best friend's trip to Hawaii. I called it my hot Kool-Aid.  This kid often arrived between 530 am and 6 am and was always ready to play.  It was early. I found the project life spread in my archives.

Throwback Thursday

Once upon a time, I worked for North Central Institute in Clarksville, TN.  I worked in admissions and records.  At the time, North Central institute wasn't at its present location. It was founded by Dr John McCurdy and they taught A&P Classes for airframe mechanics and powerplant to get their FAA, real estate, and turned military experience into college credits. It was really my first job as a married spouse to a military member. This was prior to 9/11 and I do think about the overseas calls we got about our program, too. In retrospect this seems surreal as the world changed drastically after 9/11. 

Just prior to that I worked at Kelly's Temporary Service at a cardboard factory. That is a story for another day. Above are the wings we wore on our blazers.  I ran across the other day in my jewelry.

A couple of weeks ago, I took my son to Eastern New Mexico University Roswell.  We toured their campus, and they have an aviation maintenance technician A&P program too. I felt like I came full circle.

My son isn't interested in this program, but it was fun to tour their hanger and see what students work on. 

I am grateful for all the mentorship that Dr McCurdy and Tami Taliento provided to me when I worked there.  I learned a lot about being a professional and customer service.  I also learned an immense amount how the business of higher education works.
