Weekly Roll

Hawk perched on fence near house

Well I feel like I fell off the planet. I had the worse sinus infection imaginable about 2 weeks ago along with a pizza burn to the top of my mouth. I seriously can't make this stuff up.  Also because of the burn and mouth breathing ended up with thrush and yeast elsewhere.  I am on the mend - THANK GOODNESS

 REMOTE LEARNING UPDATE

I had a chance to listen into my son's advisory class. They meet once a week. I want to say the kids aren't OK. I am glad they had a chance to vent. I think some of it was general teenage angst but there is sadness and anger too about remote learning. I know we all are just negotiating this the best we can. It doesn't look like high school will be going back 2nd quarter. They have started to bring back elementary kids this week starting with kindergartners and special needs students.

On a happier note my son got to help clean up the aquaculture center at the high school. In above picture he was pretending to be the Jolly Green Giant. Below he is holding a crawfish.

Inappropriate Thoughts

How the heck do they do remote dentistry? I saw that advertised at my Bright Now. Yeah I had to go to the dentist for the thrush and burn. Also my dentist is now charging a $10 covid fee. It would be okay if I saw them doing anything different other than only having 4 chairs in the waiting room which they won't let you wait in. I mean can you make a Bright Now look any more austere than it already is.

Wordy Wednesday - Eyeball Edition

I like to use eyeball décor for Halloween. I transformed my chalkboard . I used a stencil I cut out with my cricut to help me chalk this one.

I have a vase full of baseball eyeballs on my entryway table.  All the frames are dollar store or goodwill.  The prints are ones I created or photocopied.

Blogging Anniversary

I started this blog on a whim in 2007. The name was inspired when the school district left a port a potty in visible view of my dining room. First Post Here. So I have been blogging for 13 years. 13 is my lucky number as well.

I don't know what the future holds. It feels like change in the air. Every time I have tried to quit blogging I have come back. I have too many stories to tell.

I have been influenced

I admit I spend entirely too much time scrolling Instagram. There are quite a few bargain hunters I follow. Aubrey is my favorite. She clued me into this amber foaming soap pump. We have been using a lot of soap. I had been on the hunt for a foaming one. This is from Walmart

She also pointed me to this deal on Wayfair for a 5 x 7 area rug for $32 dollars. I have been on the hunt for a new one for under my dining room table. I had a indoor/outdoor rug which I actually moved outside under our picnic table. I shuffled my rug from the office into the dining room. I just didn't like it. However I didn't want to spend a whole lot and this Wayfair rug fits the bill.

Kate at Vension for Dinner. Is always talking about doing things for her future self. I have been thinking about that a lot especially when it is easier to leave dishes in the sink etc. By the way Kate is a bad ass homesteader and you should follow her. Love love her directness.  She makes me want to have a milk cow.

Deb and Danelle are hilarious. The way they have transformed their rental is amazing. I can't wait to see their home build and the Woods and Ivy cottage/garage.

Are there any instagramers that have been influencing you?

Fall Shelfie

I am feeling the fall vibes. I got out my fall stuff for my shelf's. Got out all the little pumpkins. There is nothing expensive on these shelves. It is just collected stuff over several years. There is quite a few dollar tree pumpkins. Pumpkin sign is from the dollar tree.

Weekly Roll

Celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary in true covid style, apart. My husband is on a work assignment but he did send me these really pretty roses.

Really starting to feel like fall around here. We got a lot of rain and wind last week. It is probably time to put the garden to bed. I have been picking dahlias like crazy.

Sourdough Update

Well it didn't go as planned as the first two loaves I made the parchment paper stuck to the bottom. That didn't stop the youngest from devouring the loaves. He just cut off the bottom crust. My next batch turned out great. I oiled the parchment paper. The dough is just wet.

I broke my 17 week record of making weekend waffles. I made no sourdough waffles last week.

Remote Learning Update

My son has made this desk his own. We now have an aquarium for his aquaculture class.  Finally have
fish too. Though he didn't like my name suggestions for his minnows of fish and stick. No sense of humor I tell ya

I made a new sign. We joke that you know everywhere my son has been by the trail of debris.
