One of my Mom's specialties is Cabbage rolls also know as Bierocks. I have adapted several recipes to make the dough in the bread maker. My mom uses to 2 hot roll mixes for the dough.
Filling is adapted from a friends recipe from Mom's Group Recipe Book. Ours is onion and paprika free as my husband has allergies to these ingredients
Bread Machine Bierocks/Cabbage Rolls
Filling
1.5 hamburger (one pound is fine too - we like ours meaty)
dash of pepper and salt
6 cups of shredded cabbage (1.5 lbs)
1/2 cup of water
Filling: Brown hamburger with salt and pepper. Add cabbage and water, steam until down about 15 minutes (there should be not liquid)
Dough
3/4 cup milk (almond milk okay substitution)
1/4 butter
1 egg
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
3 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoon of yeast
Set machine to dough cycle. Once the dough cycle is complete, divide dough into 8 pieces. Roll out into square. Place 2 tbsp to 4 tbsp of cooled filling onto each square. Press ends together. Mine always come out looking like hand pies. Place on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 for 15-20 minutes
Picture of rolls above before cooked. Evidently I definitely not a food blogger.
