What is saving me

 We have reached the middle of winter. Modern Mrs Darcy hosts a "What is Saving You".  It is funny that it always seems like the little things that are saving us. My list is below.  Check out what is saving others.

Buy Good Gloves - I live in a place that hardly ever gets much snow, but I was glad my husband bought me some good gloves.  I was going to cheap out, but when we had Snow and Ice Armegedon in Southeast New Mexico last week I was glad I didn't cheap out. I am a person who always has cold hands.  

Lighted Dog Collars - We started walking our dogs after supper and it is dark.  We got red and blue lighted collars. We are the neighborhood paw patrol.  They are rechargeable and have several light modes.

Book Club - I belong to the Sharon Says So book club.  I enjoy reading books I normally wouldn't attempt or pick. we read mainly nonfiction. I learn something every time. There is something so satisfying about sharing ideas about a book.  Also, in this turbulent time I find Sharon McMahon's knowledge and advice a welcome breath of fresh air. Sending and Receiving Postcards - I joined postcrossing last year and it is a lot of fun to send and receive cards from all over. People always ask what I write.  I always write a little message tailored to their profile. Since I live close to Roswell, New Mexico. I send lots of alien postcards. I ask, "Do you believe?".

Favorite Postcards 2025

 I received over 60 postcards last year!  I have them hanging EVERYWHERE! I have them on the refrigerator hanging as a banner in the oasis. 

I did have a few favorites and far too many to show but a few are below.

But more than the fronts of the cards, I enjoyed reading each post card.  Many of the post cards told me the places that I should visit.  They told me of places that were on their bucket travel list.  Many had visited New Mexico.  Post cards allow us to visit places through the mail.

I have been doing Postcrossing for a bit.  I really enjoy doing this. I thought I would share the kind of postcards that I send. 

I sent these postcards shortly before Christmas. (Above) Postcrossers can say what kind of postcards they like to receive.  So I try to have a variety on hand. Postcards are a bit hard to come by. I usually buy many at a time when I see them. Most of my postcards go overseas and many people are unfamiliar with New Mexico. Heck most US citizens are unfamiliar with New Mexico. So, I try to have a large variety of New Mexico cards However I am from Colorado so there is a bit of Colorado mixed in.

Side Quest - World Postcard Day/Geocaching

 World Post Card Day is October 1st.  It is a big thing in the Post Crossing and Geocaching Communities.

On Sunday we went to a Geocaching crossover event with Postcrossing. If you haven't heard Geocaching is turning 25 years old. There was a virtual souvenir for attending a postcard event. We haven't done a geocaching event for a while or much geocaching whatsoever. It was fun to meet some geocachers and exchange some stories.

I will be sending some postcards on October 1st not only to other post crossers but to my friends as well.

Well I have been doing Postcrossing since May.  Postcrossing is basically a postcard exchange. It has been fun. This week I have mailed postcards to Taiwan and Canada. It is a fun hobby.

Today Postcrossing is celebrating 20 years.  I just started postcrossing so I thought I would share the postcards I have received so far. I have received postcards from Japan, India, and Czechoslovakia. The majority however from the US.
