Sometimes a honeypot is a welcome sight but when it is outside your dining room window it is urban blight.

Weekly Roll- Memorial Day
Deep Thoughts
Last Friday, we lost a friend. He died of ALS. It has made me contemplative all week. What is the measure of a life? Why do the good guys die early? How do we help the people still standing? I also felt like sometimes in friendship is the littlest things that make a big impact. I attended his wedding which I literally still talk about. He was married at the Mormon church in a classroom and neither he nor his bride were Mormon. His co-worker was a ordained Mormon Bishop. I literally walked over to the wedding. This person had a big personality in many ways and executed their job at the highest level with honor and integrity. He valued relationship with his peers and subordinates but not at the cost of cutting corners in his job. I think that is a rare breed. The memorial is next Friday and because of his position there will be an honor guard. RIP Josh.
TRASH TALK
I was on my own picking up garbage last Sunday. What is it about ALLSUP taco sauce? There are always lots of those. I can't believe that ALLSUP gas station taco sauce is all that. It was a first I only time I only found one alcoholic beverage can. There was a giant water balloon fight in the park along with car repair. I feel like that computes for a park.

Walking
I have been doing a lot of walking recently. My husband and I have walked almost every day of his retirement. Of course, some of these walks were for coffee or a breakfast burrito. That is called balance, right. Well my husband has gone back to work, and my walking has fallen off.
Green is where I met the goal or exceeded. Now the trick is to learn to walk by myself. It seems so boring, but it must be done.

What I Read May
I am linking up with Modern Mrs Darcy's Quick Lit. Check out what everyone else is reading. My reading has slowed down quite a bit but managed to get one book read.
Bones of the Master by George Crane
I found this browsing the library. Sometimes that works out for me. This is about the Monk Tsung Tsai who escapes the Red Army in Mongolia and now 40 years latter returns with his now American neighbor George Crane, a poet. I know very little of Buddhism or Buddhist Monks, but this is a fascinating story about Tsung Tsai and his return to Mongolia to find the bones of his master. It is a fascinating adventure. George struggles to become more like Tsung Tsai and learn Buddhism. This meme below made me think of George at the beginning of his Buddhism journey. My sister just happened to send me this meme as I finished the book.
This book isn't probably everyone cup of tea but I like learning about other religions and adventures.

Weekly Roll - Mother's Day Edition
Happy Mother's Day! I am so lucky this year to be able to spend the day with my MOM.
Picture Above is of a discount dahlia for $5. Never pass up a $5 dahlia. That thing retails for $29.99 and all I did for rehab was cut off the broken blooms. It will bloom again
Mistakes Beginners Make Growing Dahlias Oh, I have made some of these.
12 Books People Say Are Life Changing Reads I haven't read many on this list.
George Strait New Country Album I am so excited about this. George Strait is the GOAT
Inappropriate Thoughts
I missed the memo. I am supposed to be in Hawaii. Two of my friends on separate trips are in Hawaii. Someday I will go. It is on the bucket list. My husband went back to work this week after retiring in February. I am so grateful for the long vacation, but the time has come.
Deep Thoughts
I am in the era of my friends losing their parents. Most of my close friends have lost one or both parents. I know that time isn't promised to us that is abundantly clear the last couple of years. I just want to spend time with my loved ones. I myself personally am not a Mother's Day fan but I do love my people.

Inappropriate Thoughts
I really hate insurance. I spent a lot of hours trying to fix a health insurance matter for one of my family members. Being irresponsible pays I have decided. Secondly, never ever have more than one insurance provider. The level of insanity was bonkers. I made like 30 calls literally to one insurance company. I don't recommend zero out of ten. The irony after all of this is I haven't really solved the problem.
Deep Thoughts
I had the opportunity to meet up with my best friend. It was lovely and much needed. We could talk and talk. Surround yourself with good people because they make life's ride so much better.
Trash Talk
Well does a stop sign count as trash. There was a stop sign down at the parking lot. The cameras were fixed at the skate park so consequently there was a lot less graffiti, alcoholic beverage trash, and vapes.

Garden Update
Finally got things planted in the planter boxes. My husband made 2 giant planter boxes. One planter box is full of Floret Zinnia Seeds. I did starts and seeds. The area in the ground is for sunflowers and celosia. We will see how that does.
My best friend gifted me oodles of dahlia tubers. So, the other planter and containers along our shop hold dahlia tubers and some dahlia seedlings started from seeds from last year's dahlia. I still have some tubers to get potted up. It is a challenge her in Southeast New Mexico to grow dahlias. They like the afternoon shade and lots and lots of water.

2 Colby's
My two favorite Colby's got to meet this past year. They both graduate this week. I am so incredibly proud of them both. Colby T is graduating with a bachelor's degree from Washington State University in Sports Medicine and plans to pursue his masters in Sport Medicine this fall. Colby F is majored in Economics at the University of Northern Colorado graduating with his bachelor's degree and will be pursuing his actuary license. Words I would use to describe them both are hard workers, dedicated to their studies, and persistent in the face of difficulties.
