Project Life Tuesday - Weeks 41,42, and 43

Well, I am once again posting Project Life Tuesday on Wednesday.  I am linking up with The Mom Creative.

The weeks 41 and 42 were really slow around our house.  I have older kids and it was pretty much life as usual.  So I decided to combine these two weeks.  The overall theme was DONUTS.

My son, I quoted as wondering out loud if chocolate donuts are a performance enhancing drug.

Week 43 was a busy week.  We finished up a REALLY big geocache challenge and we also got to enjoy the fall color. I made some leaf rubbings and use them as part of my date page. In the picture of all of us together, we are holding arrow sticky notes that have the name of every Washington State Park we visited - all 53.  This picture was taken on Camano Island.

You are a Memory Maker or Memory Keeper

I think the best advice or statement I heard when I first became a Mom was I should help my child make memories.  I was talking to a Mom at our Las Madres Group(Moms Group) and she explained that she felt her main job besides basic childcare was making memories with her child.  It stuck with me. (Thanks Corinna)  One thing I know is that making memories doesn't have to be an over the top type of thing .  IT is a conscious effort to include the individuals that reside in your home  in activities that create a sense of belonging though.

I am a scrapbooker.  I know a lot of people aren't.  I think making memories with the people you share your life with is far more important than the documentation.  I like documenting the fun times and my family likes looking at these photo albums so that it why I scrapbook. In recent years I have been doing Project Life which is a scrapbooking system by Becky Higgins .


I love it because it isn't time intensive and is pretty much slip your photos into the slots and move on.

September 15-21
Fall has arrived. Pappy turned 93 on the 18th. We (Kevin and Heather) took pictures of the waning fall moon. On Saturday, we got the climbing rope installed on the swingset. The kids had fun trying to climb it.

Project Life Tuesday - Week 37

I am linking up with The Mom Creative Project Life Tuesday.

Some parts of week 37 were extremely challenging.  My hometown is near where some of the flooding happened in Colorado so I was glued to my Facebook watching the unfolding devastation. I was just a little girl in 1976 when the Big Thompson flooded.   Our dog also had to have part of his tail amputated.  We were all upset about it.  He since has mostly recovered but his tail is 5 inches shorter. My son Charlie drew a chalk picture of Tigger with his new shortened tail. Lastly, we were able to put up the large beam on our new swing set.

Project Life Tuesday - Week 33

I am linking up with The Mom Creative Project Life Tuesday.

I am back tracking a little. This is my week 33 layout.  We had a slower week as our company left. It got really quiet, quick.  We did spend some time hanging out with our friends at Hovander Park, Tenant Lake, and Point Whitehorn.  At Point Whitehorn, we found these cool rocks with inspirational sayings on them.  I love the quote cards found in the Project Life: Cobalt Edition.

We had an incredibly busy Saturday as we made it to the "Center of the Universe" for the Geocaching Blockparty.  We had never done that and that was incredible.  After that we decided to make it an Epic geocaching day.  Our goal was to try to find almost every type of geocache - earth cache, micro, regular, puzzle,virtual etc.  So on our way home we tried to accomplish that.

Project Life Tuesday- Week 36

I have gotten behind on my Project Life Tuesday.  I actually got stuck on week 32 and I decided that is ridiculous.  Project Life is meant to be easy so I am embracing that concept. I am picking up at week 36 and I will go back and complete the other weeks later.  Week 36 was back to school.  I have a 5th grader and 10th grader.  The owl photo was by my husband.  He saw it at work when it swooped into grab a mouse. I am keeping it simple and letting the photos speak for themselves.

Project Life Tuesday - Week 30 and 31

I am linking up with The Mom Creative Project Life Tuesday once again on a Wednesday.

Week 30 was a little slower than most.  My hubby at the beginning of the week was in Havre, MT.  He contributed the sunset picture.  The end of the week had us at Nonna and Pappy's house.  We also visited 3 state parks in our Centennial State Park Geocache quest.

Week 31 was a dozy for us.  Most of the sweet sweet action happened at the end of the week.  My Parents came at the end of the week from Colorado.  We celebrated my Mom's 70th birthday with a surprise visit from my Aunt and Uncle from Arizona. We had a full house. My Mom I think suspected something but was surprised. Then the very next day we celebrated my son's 15th birthday. The main thing my son wanted to do was go out to eat at Bob's Burger and Brew so we did that. We had ice cream at a local dairy too. It was busy in all the right ways.

Project Life Tuesday

The summer is flying by.  I am still a little behind.  That is OK.  That is the best part of Project Life is it can be whatever you need to be and I know it won't take me long to catch back up.

This layout has no photos of my kids though Charlie contributed a minecraft drawing.  The journaling next to the photo of my husband in tree discusses the lengths he will go to find a geocache including falling out of a tree.  The picture was taken before the fall.  Other than being a little scraped up only his ninja pride was hurt. I also saw the movie, "The Heat", for the second time and laughed just as hard the second time.  So, I included a quote.

Project Life Tuesday - Week 28

I am linking up The Mom Creative Project Life Tuesday.

It was a busy week 28.  My youngest had VBS(Vacation Bible School) at a local church in the evenings.  I wish I had taken a picture of the set. They even had a draw bridge.  They always go all out.  Their enthusiasm is what makes this VBS so great. We also had a death at the end of the week. Our dear dog Niki passed way.  We are still processing this.  I plan on doing a tribute page but wasn't up for it yet. It was somewhat unexpected. I will put it on the back of VBS page. Of course, I couldn't miss a chance to try a pretzel burger with my friend Mrs Epi.

Trying to keep it simple this summer and Project Life is all about simple!

Project Life Tuesday - Week 27

I am linking up with The Mom Creative Project Life Tuesday. I am not quite caught up but here is week 27.

The journaling:

Sunday we took the bikes and rode part of the

 Centennial Trail. It was probably the hottest

day of the week. We estimated we rode

12 miles.  We spotted another eagle along the

way. Charlie spent several days perfecting

his hot tub snorkeling. Charlie and Heather

went to the $1 movie "Diary of a Wimpy

Kid" with friends on Tuesday. We spent part

of  the 4th of July digging holes for our

new play set. We spent the evening shooting

off a few fireworks and watching the sky

around us.

Kevin thought it would be fun to draw the year with sparklers.  So we experimented doing that and with a little Photoshop magic we ended up with the photo below. It is a little rough but I was pleased that it turned out.

Project Life Tuesday - Week 26

I am linking up with The Mom Creative Project Life Tuesday on an actual TUESDAY (sorry to shout!)

Week 26th found us finding more State Park Caches to fill in our State Park GeoTour Passport.  All of these parks were in highly urban areas.  IT was neat to find rather large state parks here. We now have 17 stamps. We ended the week by tearing down our playground.  It has been a little of 9 years.  We hope to build a smaller swing set as our boys are older. Right now it is a mess but it is going to be great. We also managed to fit in another geocache find on Saturday after our demolition of the playground at the local community college.

I ran out of my favorite Design G Page Protectors so I am trying out a We R page protector.  It is just so-so for me. I am going back to my favorite Design G.

Project Life Tuesday - Week 25

I am a bit behind.  I am once again linking up with Project Life Tuesday with The Mom Creative on a Wednesday. I got project life block but I pushed through. Here is the result

Week 25 found us starting with Father's Day and ending school and going on a State Park Adventure with 92 year old Pappy.

I even taught my children to whittle.  We are totally living on the edge.

Project Life Tuesday on Thursday - Week 22

I am linking up with The Mom Creative Project Life Tuesday.  I am a little late linking up but here it is.

Week 22 was a little bit of a slow week coming off the big holiday.  The quote 4 x 6 card I made in Photoshop as well as the 3 x 4 one for the record journal card. We were the FTF (first to find) on a geocache near Silver Lake Park on Monday the 27th.  That was exciting.  My son is pictured in the sculpture, " The Nose Knows." at Peace Arch State Park. The cow we saw when driving and I got my youngest to take a picture.

We are still in school and I can't WAIT until school is out to spend some time with the Two Man Wrecking Crew.

Project Life Tuesday - Week 21

I am linking up with The Mom Creative Project Life Tuesday. 

It was a busy week 21 at our house.  We celebrated my youngest son's birthday. He turned 11 years old.

The bridge south of us collapsed on Thursday evening.  It was quite frightening as my husband was returning from the southern part of the state. Luckily he stopped for dinner at his Mom's house in Tacoma.  Otherwise he would of been close to crossing this bridge when it collapsed.  It is SO fortunate that no one was seriously hurt.  But what a mess this has created as it closed down the major north south route to Seattle.

We ended our week with a big bike ride. This was the longest ride we had been on as a family.  It was a lot of fun. The " good times" is a digital stamp from Ali Edwards.

Project Life Tuesday - Week 20

I am linking up The Mom Creative Project Life Tuesday. I had trouble getting my Mojo to pull this weeks spread together being a single parent this week.  This is coming too you on Wednesday.

We had a busy week 20.  We spent Mother's Day Weekend at Nonna's house and celebrated our two May Birthdays and Mother's Day.  The end of the week had my Husband traveling to a major match in St George, Utah.  I am using two of my husband's pictures in the layout.  More information about how we created the bulldogs can be found here.

The above picture just cracks me up.  Of course, I am in the back seat but the dog is in the passenger seat. The journaling is below:
Our dog is a DORK! Tigger has decided that he does want to get into the car. The other day we decided to take him for a ride without the dog crate. He decided to sit in the front seat - too funny.
