Last Minute Halloween Craft - Man on the Moon

Sometimes I get a wild craft hair. My Dad gave me a giant quilt hoop he found at the city recycle.  I have wanted a Man on the Moon. I was like I can make this on fabric and use that hoop to make my moon.

I used this printable from Earlyn Whalen Online. I used my printer to enlarge and made way to many copies. I used tracing paper to transfer to some fabric and colored in using fabric markers My husband suggested I use battery operated lights to make moon light up.

Meow Woof - Santa Fe

My son wanted to go here for his birthday. However, our August was quite busy, so we finally delivered on our promise last weekend. Meow Woof is an interactive art exhibit. It was a real workout for me as I shimmied into a fireplace, climbed into the trees, and walked through a refrigerator. I thought this would be sensory overload for my autistic son, but we came prepared, and we went through early.

It was interesting and a bit weird in a good way.

 Inappropriate Thoughts

This rescue plant made me happy. When I moved to New Mexico I had to get rid of all my plants. Some I had like 17 years.  One of those plants was a split leaf philodendron. One year my children took all the split leaves off because they thought they looked like eyes. It managed to survive that encounter. If you get a new $10 plant doesn't that justify a new bedspread and area rug for your bedroom.? Asking for a friend. I know first world plant lady problems.

Deep Thoughts

The town north of us Roswell, New Mexico experienced a flash flood last weekend. It did a massive amount of damage. We luckily avoided this storm cell. There was so much destruction. I haven't been to see the destruction. Send some prayers to Roswell.

52 Ancestors - 4th Cousin Problem

I don't know if anyone has taken a dive into their DNA.  It is fascinating and frustrating. I still prefer traditional genealogy. However, I understand that DNA can help solve some mysteries or add to mysteries. I have a someone who is a 4th cousin or a half 3rd cousin once removed who is related to both my paternal and maternal side according to DNA. Try to wrap your head around that one.

What is a 4th cousin? I am so glad you asked in order for me to be related to this DNA match we must share a 3rd great grandparent in common. This would also mean that my mom and dad share a common great great grandparent to them. At least I think that is what it means. Send help! Anyway, I am somehow related to this person through my paternal and maternal lines most likely I have 2 different ways I am related to them.

What is a 4th cousin?

Inappropriate Thoughts

My sister sent me this picture of what amazon is recommending to her Probiotics and Freeze-Dried Quail Eggs!   I have questions do quail eggs act as a probiotic and ICK. I can understand scrambling quail eggs but freeze dried and just popping one in my mouth. That is a big nope.

 Trash Talk

There was apparently some sex going on at the park. Found some condoms. Yeah us and that wasn't the only fireworks. There were real fireworks. We also found buzz balls and various other alcoholic beverages. YEs, we found an Allsup taco sauce packet. What is it about Allsup's taco sauce?

Ghost Shelfie

I couldn't resist this ghost drinking coffee print from Etsy. I have a digital download weakness. This print makes me smile.  I had a 5 x 7 printed at Walgreens on a 50% deal.  I had the frame.

What I read October

I am linking up with Modern Mrs Darcy's Quick Lit. Check out what everyone else is reading.

The Small and The Mighty by Sharon McMahon

I have written a lot about this book. I loved all the stories of the unsung American who changed the course of history. I love what a good storyteller Sharon is. She makes history interesting. This is an uplifting read during at a time where we question US politics. Once again, she proves that it wasn't the those who were best equipped (wealthy/smart) who did the next right thing are the ones that changed the course of history. I really didn't want the book to end. Tell me all the stories Sharon!

I was lucky enough to attend her book tour in Denver. I am so proud of her. You can find her on Instagram  Sharon Says So.

Inappropriate Thoughts

Preseason NBA Basketball time has arrived.  I really like watching basketball.  Unfortunately, I am a Portland Trail Blazers fan. I also inadvertently joined the Herd - The Bucks.  My favorite player is Damien Lillard . My other favorite players are former Blazers too - The Bosnian Beast, Nurkic(Suns), Trendon Watford (Nets), Drew Eubanks(Jazz), CJ McCollum (Pelicans) to name a few. I also have a few least favorite players - Labron James and Jokic. I talk a lot during the games and all of it is inappropriate color commentary.

Deep Thoughts

I visited the church I grew up in last week. It is down to 30 or so members. This church is slowly dying. It makes me sad. This is my parents' community connection.  This is the church my grandparents attended, and grandfather helped with the giant cross at the front. It was where my parents and I also were married. I was baptized here. I have hard time comprehending that there will no longer be a First Baptist. They are working at a plan to merge with another denomination and basically selling their church and forming a new church with this denomination. Nothing will erase the history, and I know that people who believed and founded this church would want the building to continue to serve the community. Churches are not a building but people.

Gothic Coffee Halloween Shelfie

This gothic coffee Halloween shelfie is very similar to last year. I added mini bones and a skull. I got from the dollar store. I did paint and wipe them off. I like the aged look.

My favorite part was the skulls in my Madrid depression glass jar.  I just like it.

Below are some more close ups.  This is all stuff I have had from previous Halloween's.

Yes, I got a 12-passenger van with party lights inside and the nickname Fluffy with my internet friends. I enjoyed hearing Sharon McMahon on her book tour "The Small and The Mighty". She is now a NY Times Best Selling Author!  CONGRATULATIONS!  It is not every author who has a DJ on their tour.  It was a really fun night and very uplifting.

The Small and The Mighty

Doesn't everyone get a new released book with fridge filters.

The long wait for the release of Sharon McMahon's book The Small and the Mighty has arrived. It came out last Tuesday. I belong to the Sharon Says So book club. I am so proud of this lady. Sharon is a master storyteller and when you read her book is like listening to one of her workshops.  Sharon makes government and history accessible to all by telling the stories of ordinary people who made a big difference. Hopefully seeing her in Denver tonight on her book tour.
