Homemade Valentine Cards

I have a tradition of making homemade Valentine's. It is something I am about. My hometown is Loveland Colorado aka "The Sweetheart City".  My parents were married on Valentine's day.  I can't escape Valentine's if I tried. This is the time of year I contemplating what my next homemade Valentine is going to be.

Above is the card I made last year - 2019. My card is made with a cricut and stickers.

Here is some links to some other cards I have made

Gelliplate Print Valentine Card
Chalkboard Inspired Valentine
String Art Heart Valentine's
Continuous Line Valentine's
Stencil Valentine

UNSOLICITED HOMEMADE CARD ADVICE

Sending good mail feels good. It doesn't need to be perfect. The thought does count. Adding a sticker or a stamp to a premade card counts. Don't do this if it stresses you out. THIS ISN'T A COMPETITION

New Year, New Reads

Well, I wish I was starting off the year stronger having read more. Definitely more of quality over quantity in the books I have read this month. I am linking up with Modern Mrs Darcy's Quick Lit. Check out what everyone else is reading.

This is Where You Belong - The Art and Science of Loving the Place You Live by Melody Warnick

This book was a recommendation by Modern Mrs Darcy. I enjoyed immensely. I find myself contemplating a move and finding myself asking myself why my town didn't cut it anymore. I also found out according to the book that the average American moves 11.7 times before they die. I would be considered a mover in that I above that average even though for the last 15 years I have been rooted in one place. I loved the story telling in this book. I can totally relate to Melody. I think most of the research in Melody's book points to people being engaged in the place they live the more attached they are to that place. She breaks down the ways to be engaged. I also learned about place making and I can see several places where my current town is trying that out - summer activity series including a giant scavenger hunt, new parks, and lots of places to become involved in community art.

I recommend this to anyone moving to a new place, been a place a long time, or considering a move.

Liking where you live is satisfaction. Never wanting to leave is attachment .- Katherine Loflin

Lady Clementine by Marie Benedict

The latest book by Marie Benedict is about Lady Clementine who is Winston Churchill's wife. To be frank, I never consider that Winston Churchill had a wife. I love how Marie Benedict digs into the story of the people behind the powerful people. Lady Clementine was a force in her own right. This book was great.  I was the first one at my library to get to check this out. That was a first for me.

One Little Word 2020

CHANGE
Change is my one little word.  Instead of a resolution I have for a number years have had a word for the year. One Little Word is the creation of Ali Edwards.

I used her word generator as well. The word that it came up with was focus. So maybe my one little word is actually two little words - focused change.  I sense this will be a year of change.  How I navigate those changes is going to be important.

I have been inspired by a lot of stuff lately. If you subscribe to Elise Joy Newsletter she had a some great prompts for reflection. I also was inspired by the podcast  Cultivate a Good Life Episode 66 Understanding Autonomy

Are you a resolution fan or more of a one little word fan?
