Grocery Store Garden Inspiration

I walked by these little beauties and I knew I needed them for my yard.  Who knew you could grow pink blueberries? I have regular blueberry bushes already by our hot tub. 

I was intrigued about the pink lemonade blueberry.  So I did a little research, these pink blueberries were developed in the 1970's and these blueberries are much sweeter. (more details)

We have enjoyed many leprechaun gold hunts over the years. My kids are older a teen and a tween so I have mixed it up a bit.  I wonder HOW long it will take them to make the connection. (Update: after lots of prodding their powers of observation improved)

What I Read In March

I am linking up with Modern Mrs. Darcy's Quick Lit.  My reads were an eclectic bunch. Need suggestions on what to read next check out what everyone else is reading.

Postcards from Cookie by Caroline Clarke.  This is an autobiographical book. A daughter not really looking for her Mom but rather medical information finds her birth mom. It turns into a 7 year journey of getting to know her mother. Her birth mother Cookie is a prolific postcard sender. There are interesting circumstances that bring them together and less than 7 degrees of separation. This is not your typical adoptee story.

City of Woman by David Gillman - This book was on our hot reads table.  The hot reads table at the local library is my kryptonite. Interesting look at WWII and the German woman left behind.  Rarely is it discussed about the choices of the German women who were left behind during the war.  The paranoid atmosphere, the constant bombing, the moral dilemmas they faced. This is definitely a PG book if not R.  The topics of infidelity and martial affairs. It was just ok but very thought provoking.

I hesitate to write what I read next.  I need to enter the book reading confessional. Well here it goes.  I reread the Twilight series.  Yes, I READ THE ENTIRE SERIES AGAIN. I know it isn't good literature. But it is familiar and I needed that right now. There is something comforting knowing the characters and the ending.

Entry Way Refresh

ENTRY WAY AFTER

I headboard bench for Christmas from my parents.  This is what started my entry way refresh.  I painted the side table next to my bench. (Details here)  I repainted the stripe on the bench.

BENCH BEFORE

I made a pad for the bench.  I wanted a pad to protect the bench as this is the drop zone for my kids backpacks and music practice space for my youngest. This has really brightened up my entryway. This is probably the only time that this space will look this good.  I added a plant to the table but this is also where my youngest charges his school tablet so I don't know if this is practical.

You see I have had this $2 plant stand since 2010 that has sat unfinished in various places in my house. That is how I roll.

I had GRAND plans to do this or that to the stand but these plans never materialized until this weekend. It most current location was next to our hallway bench to hold my son's school tablet to charge.

I painted the outside gray and inside white.  I am getting an odd reflection inside the plant stand.
